About Me: Kayla McEnery, MD

I am a former teacher turned board certified Family Medicine Physician (and more importantly a dog mom of two). My love of science, teaching and all things maroon developed during my time at Texas A&M University. I graduated Summa Cum Laude as an Honors Scholar with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Genetics. After A&M, I chose to explore teaching prior to attending medical school. I came to realize my medical office would provide all the aspects of teaching I loved: a safe place, compassionate listening, educational opportunities and advocacy. Upon completion of medical school University of Texas Medical Branch, and completed residency right here in Waco (you can say I decided to plant some maroon roots here in Bear Country).

While working, I realized the gap in care for those with eating disorders. I pursued additional training in the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of those with eating disorders in order to help close the gap while providing compassionate, evidence based care. I truly enjoy walking along side people striving towards recovered.

Unfortunately in our current insurance-based system, I observed my patient’s (and my own) overarching frustrations of short visits, long wait times and a distant doctor-patient relationship. I wanted something different my patients (and myself), leading to the creation of Together Waco Direct Care: a place for compassionate, personalized, affordable care not only for primary care, but also for medical management of eating disorders.

Recover loudly so others don’t have to suffer silently.
